Team Field Task List

General Task List for ALL Managers

Home Teams

Responsible for all field set up no later than 15 minutes prior to start of each game.

Visiting Teams

Responsible for all field take down and debris removal from dugouts and bleachers.

Note: For all fields where there are multiple games scheduled, there should be a combined preparation effort of coaches from both the home and visiting teams.


Task List:


Water:
  • Water field lightly to settle any dust (Kiwanis)

Set Bases:

  • Bases should sit level on the field, no holes around them.
  • Pull and store bases (last game only)
  • Cap pegs (last game) remove any dirt inside pegs

Rake, Drag and Tamp:

  • Rake to fill in all holes and to level the area around the bases, home plate, and the pitchers mound.
  • Remove any rocks
  • Tamp to firm any holes that have been filled (last game)
  • Rake area connecting pitcher’s mound to home plate.
  • Drag infield and base lines smooth (water lightly first)
    • Do not drag into any portion of infield grass

Chalk Lines (Kiwanis, Dams 7th):

  • Base lines and batters boxes
    • There is a batters box PVC template in shed (Kiwanis)
    • It is up to the coaches of both teams to decide whether field should be re-chalked after each game.
    • If there is any question, the field should be chalked.

Trash:

  • Remove any trash from dugout areas and bleacher’s.
  • Empty trash cans into dumpster down first base line (Kiwanis) Pitching Machine:
  • Inspect and store pitching machine in appropriate shed. (Kiwanis, Dams) including the electrical cord
  • Report all machine maintenance issues

Note: All teams should conduct warm up drills only in the outfield grass areas down both baselines.
